Drie weken na het overlijden van David Prowse (de originele Darth Vader), bereikt ons het nieuws dat wederom een acteur uit de originele Star Wars trilogie overleden is. Jeremy Bulloch, de acteur achter Boba Fett in The Empire Strikes Back en Return of the Jedi (alsook Captain Colton in Revenge of the Sith en Lieutenant Sheckil in The Empire Strikes Back), is vandaag gestorven op 75 jarige leeftijd.
Geboren in Leicestershire in 1945 begon Jeremy al aan zijn carrière in 1958 in reclames op tv. Hij speelde daarna wat rollen in Hamlet, Doctor Who, een Bond-film en werd bij ons natuurlijk bekend door zijn rol als de gevreesde Bounty Hunter Boba Fett in The Empire Strikes Back. Het nieuws van zijn overlijden werd op de Facebookpagina van Bulloch medegedeeld.
Jeremy died peacefully on 17th December 2020 following health complications, including several years living with Parkinson’s disease. He spent his final weeks in the wonderful care of staff at St George’s Hospital in Tooting, close to the house where he and his wife Maureen had lived together for more than fifty years. Maureen and two of his sons, Jamie and Robbie, were with him during his final days. Jeremy had a long and happy life as an actor and was best known for his roles in the films Summer Holiday, Star Wars and James Bond; TV series the Newcomers, Doctor Who, Agony and Robin of Sherwood, and several West End theatre productions. Away from the screen Jeremy was a talented footballer and cricketer. He also supported a number of charities including Great Ormond Street Hospital who saved his granddaughter’s life. He was devoted to his wife, three sons and ten grandchildren, who all love him dearly and will miss him terribly.
Jeremy was een graag geziene gast op diverse conventies en stond altijd klaar om met fans te praten over zijn aandeel in de saga. Hoewel Boba Fett in de films niet heel veel te doen had, genoot hij intens van de enorme groep fans die helemaal gek waren op zijn personage. Sinds 2018 heeft hij geen conventies meer aangedaan.
Vanuit Star Wars Awakens wensen wij zijn vrouw, familie, collega’s en vrienden enorm veel sterkte toe met dit verlies.
